The Situation

After several seasonal transformations, Eataly wanted to create an “evergreen” version of Serra by Birreria—one that could hold its own year-round while still feeling fresh, welcoming, and transportive. The goal was to build a secret garden that wouldn't compete with seasonal editions, but instead offer a timeless charm rooted in nature and community.

The Creative Concept

Inspired by the serene, tucked-away beauty of the Elizabeth Street Garden in SoHo, we created a lush, layered space where guests could feel a moment of pause from the city. Our design combined climbing greenery, sculptural planters, and vintage garden elements to evoke a sense of age and softness. The feeling was key: wandering into a living garden that always felt alive, calm, and a little enchanted—no matter the season.

The Result

The Evergreen Edition of Serra became a permanent escape above the bustle of the market below. With thoughtful visual balance and organic flow, the space now offers guests a consistent refuge for long lunches, romantic dinners, or a quiet spritz among the leaves—seasonless, effortless, and always in bloom.
